Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya's most famous wildlife destinations, located in the heart of the Great Rift Valley in Nakuru County, approximately 160 km northwest of Nairobi. Established in 1961, the park surrounds the alkaline Lake Nakuru and is internationally recognized for its rich biodiversity and successful conservation efforts. It is one of the country's leading rhino sanctuaries, providing a safe habitat for both black and white rhinos. The park is also home to lions, leopards, Rothschild's giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, and hundreds of bird species. While historically known for its vast flamingo populations, the park continues to attract birdwatchers with pelicans, cormorants, fish eagles, and seasonal migratory birds. Scenic viewpoints such as Baboon Cliff, Lion Hill, and Out of Africa Lookout offer spectacular panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscapes.
