Meru National Park
Experience Meru National Park
Meru National Park is one of Kenya's most beautiful and least-visited wilderness areas — a place of extraordinary biodiversity that inspired Joy Adamson's famous book and film 'Born Free'. Located north-east of Mount Kenya, the park's 870 km² landscape transitions from open grass plains and Doum palm forests in the north to dense riverine forests threaded by 15 permanent rivers in the south. Meru hosts the Big Five, including a successfully reintroduced population of black and white rhino, as well as Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and oryx — species found nowhere else in Kenya's southern parks. Its remoteness ensures a genuine off-the-beaten-path safari experience.
