Experience Mount Kenya National Park
Mount Kenya National Park and Natural World Heritage Site protects Kenya's tallest mountain and second-highest peak in Africa at 5,199 m. The mountain is an ancient, deeply eroded volcano surrounded by concentric rings of habitat — from coffee and tea plantations at the base through dense montane forest, bamboo zones, heathland, and Afro-alpine moorland, to the dramatic glaciated peaks of Batian, Nelion, and Lenana. The lower forest zones are home to large herds of elephant, buffalo, black and white colobus monkey, leopard, and over 130 forest bird species. Above the forest, giant lobelias, groundsels, and senecios create an otherworldly high-altitude landscape.
